Container Load Calculator
Estimate how much stone wool board fits in a 20GP, 40GP or 40HQ container and how many containers your order needs, by board area or volume.
How it works
Stone wool board is priced by area (m²) but ships by volume. This tool converts your quantity and board thickness into cubic metres, then checks both the container's volume limit and its weight limit and reports whichever fills up first. Because rock wool is light for its bulk, it almost always fills the space (cubes out) long before it reaches the weight limit.
Example: 24,000 m² of 60 mm board = 1,440 m³, roughly 24 × 40HQ.

20GP and 40GP loads are estimates based on standard packing. The final loading plan is confirmed with your quotation.
Typical container loads
Loadable board area per container for common board thicknesses, using the standard 1200 × 600 mm board. Because rock wool cubes out, this depends on thickness, not density.
| Thickness | 20GP | 40GP | 40HQ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 mm | 868 m² | 1,763 m² | 2,000 m² |
| 50 mm | 521 m² | 1,058 m² | 1,200 m² |
| 60 mm | 434 m² | 882 m² | 1,000 m² |
| 80 mm | 326 m² | 661 m² | 750 m² |
| 100 mm | 261 m² | 529 m² | 600 m² |
| 120 mm | 217 m² | 441 m² | 500 m² |
| 150 mm | 174 m² | 353 m² | 400 m² |
| 200 mm | 130 m² | 264 m² | 300 m² |
The 40HQ column is the factory figure of 60 m³ per container. The 20GP and 40GP columns are estimates that scale that figure by published container volume.
