Frequently Asked Questions
Product specs, ordering, certifications, brand and supply, and shipping: the questions buyers ask most.
What is stone wool insulation and how is it made?
Stone wool is mineral fiber spun from molten basalt and pressed into boards and strips. It is used for thermal insulation, fire protection and sound absorption.
ProductsHow does stone wool compare to glass wool and EPS/XPS foam?
Stone wool is denser than glass wool and holds its shape at higher temperatures, while EPS and XPS are combustible foam boards. The comparison guide sets the two wools side by side, property by property.
Rock Wool vs Glass WoolWhat reaction-to-fire class does the stone wool carry?
Every density grade on the CE certificate is class A1 under EN 13501-1, and the two Chinese type tests on file class their boards A (A1) under GB 8624. Each class comes from its own test chain.
Declared valuesHow long does stone wool insulation last?
Stone wool is inorganic, so it does not rot and gives pests and mold nothing to feed on. How long it keeps its thermal performance depends on the element staying dry.
Test reportsHow do I choose the right density for my project?
Density follows the application: 40–80 kg/m³ for roofing and ceilings (TSW), 80–140 kg/m³ for sandwich panels and composite slabs (TSX and TSF), 140–160 kg/m³ for external wall systems (TSH). Higher density adds compressive strength and weight.
Density gradesWhat thermal conductivity values can I expect?
Each datasheet gives λ as an upper limit under the Chinese product standard for its series, and EN 12667 measurements by an accredited laboratory are on file for nine density grades, one batch each.
Declared valuesWhy is hydrophobic treatment important for stone wool?
Water in insulation raises its thermal conductivity, so the boards are made water-repellent. Each datasheet gives the hydrophobic rate measured for its series under the Chinese method.
StandardsWhat is the difference between a declared value and a measured value?
The DoPs on file declare reaction to fire, and the test reports give measured EN values for the other properties, each with its report number; the declared values page sets them side by side. A declared value is one the manufacturer states in the DoP and answers for across production; a measured value is one laboratory's result on one batch.
Declared valuesWhat is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
The minimum order is 60 m³ for each density you order, one full 40 ft high-cube container. At 50 mm thickness that is about 1,200 m² of board.
OrderingWhat payment methods and terms do you accept?
T/T: a 30% deposit when the order is confirmed, and the 70% balance against a copy of the bill of lading (B/L). An irrevocable L/C at sight is also accepted, with no minimum order value.
OrderingCan I request product samples before ordering?
Free samples are three 500 × 500 mm boards per density, ready to ship in 2–3 business days on your own courier account (DHL, FedEx or UPS). Request them via the contact form or WhatsApp with the project name and target quantity range.
OrderingCan you send samples for testing at a national institute?
Yes: three plain 500 × 500 mm boards per density, free, sent on your courier account and ready to ship in 2–3 business days. If the institute names another specimen size, tell us and we cut the boards to it.
OrderingCan you produce custom dimensions or specifications?
Custom dimensions, densities and thicknesses follow the same minimum of 60 m³ per density, one 40 ft high-cube container. Production time for a custom specification is confirmed with the quotation.
OrderingWhat shipping terms do you offer?
FOB Qingdao is the standard term, with CIF or CFR to your destination port on request.
OrderingHow much stone wool fits in a shipping container?
A 40 ft high-cube container takes 60 m³ of stone wool board, about 1,200 m² at 50 mm thickness, which is the factory's loading figure. For 20GP and 40GP containers the load calculator gives estimates.
Load CalculatorWhat export documents do you provide?
The export pack is the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (B/L) and certificate of origin (CO). Certificate copies, the Declaration of Performance and test reports are added on request.
OrderingWhat is the typical production and delivery lead time?
Standard products take 3–5 days of production from receipt of the deposit, then we book the sailing; for a custom specification, production time is confirmed with the quotation. Ocean transit is quoted port to port, and the shipping page gives indicative ranges by route.
OrderingWhat does FM Approved Class 4470 mean for the Hardroof 180 roof board?
Class 4470 is the FM Approvals standard for roof insulation, and the Hardroof 180 roof board is approved to it. The approval covers that one board, not wall, marine or industrial products.
Certificates & DoPWhich international standards do your products meet?
The CE certificate under EN 13162 covers 9 density grades at class A1 under EN 13501-1. Alongside it sit a CCS works approval for the marine boards, a KS L 9102 certificate and a GOST 30244 certificate for 120 kg/m³; the standards page lists every standard and what is held under it.
StandardsHow can I obtain test reports and certification documents?
Certificates are public PDFs on the certificates page. Test reports are listed on a public ledger, and each report goes by email to a person you name: ask from its row.
Test reportsWhat does NPD mean on a Declaration of Performance?
The DoPs on file declare reaction to fire, class A1 under EN 13501-1. NPD, No Performance Determined, is the entry a DoP prints against the other characteristics, and the test reports give measured values for those properties, each with its report number.
Declaration of PerformanceCan CE-marked stone wool go into a Great Britain project?
GOV.UK guidance accepts CE marking for construction products placed in Great Britain, so the CE certificate and the DoP for your grade go into the file.
Papers by marketHow do I verify the authenticity of your certificates?
Each certificate section gives the issuer, the certificate number and, where the issuer has one, its lookup page. Check the number there against the PDF you hold.
Certificates & DoPCan you provide all certificates as a single ZIP package?
Yes. Send us the list for your project file, and we email the certificates, DoPs and test reports on it as one package to the person you name.
DownloadsCan I order Taishi® Rock Wool directly from the factory?
International orders flow through Stenvak as the authorized export channel. We handle factory pricing negotiation, export documentation, logistics, and multilingual support so that buyers get the same factory rate without managing the domestic Chinese trade process themselves.
CompanyHow is Taishi® Rock Wool different from ROCKWOOL?
Both are stone wool insulation. ROCKWOOL is a European brand, while Taishi® is made in China and sold at the factory price; the certificates page lists the papers Taishi® holds, one by one.
